Genie opener logic board repair in Marietta typically costs $120 to $320 installed, and in most cases we can have the new board in and your opener working the same day we arrive. A failed logic board usually shows up one of two ways: the opener goes completely dead (no lights, no motor sound, no response from the wall button or remotes), or it starts behaving erratically – the door opens when you didn’t touch anything, the lights flicker for no reason, or the opener runs for half a second and stops. That board is the brain of the system, and when it starts firing off wrong signals, you’ll feel like your garage door has developed a personality. It hasn’t. It just needs a board that still knows what it’s doing.

Which Genie Models This Applies To
Genie has made a lot of opener lines over the years, and the logic board inside isn’t universal. The screw-drive units from the late 1990s and 2000s – things like the Excelerator, the ISD series, and the older ChainMax/IntelliG lines – used boards that are increasingly hard to find new. The more recent belt and chain drive models, including the SilentMax, StealthDrive, Aladdin Connect-compatible units, and the current Genie 2022/2128/3022/3024 families, use newer boards that are still in active production. Here’s the gotcha most Marietta homeowners don’t expect: two Genie openers can look nearly identical from the outside and take completely different boards. The board you need is keyed to the motor type and the drive system, not the plastic housing. The reliable way to identify it is the model number printed on the back or side of the motor head, plus the board’s own sticker if you can get the cover open. We match to both before ordering anything. As an independent service company – not affiliated with Genie – we’re free to put the right board in regardless of what’s easiest to source, and we’ll always tell you if a quality aftermarket equivalent makes more sense than paying for a Genie-branded box.

Signs Your Genie Opener Logic Board Repair Is Failing
- Opener is completely unresponsive. No click, no lights, no motor hum from the wall button or the remote. This often means the board’s relay or power circuit finally gave out, not the motor itself.
- Door operates by itself, or partially. The opener starts, or the lights come on, with no one touching a button. That’s a board sending commands it shouldn’t send. In Marietta, we also see this after thunderstorms – power surges hit the board hard, and the erratic behavior starts within a day or two.
- Wall button works, remotes don’t (or vice versa). If only one method will trigger the opener, the board’s receiver or wall-control circuit has failed. It’s a board symptom much more often than it’s a remote battery issue.
- Door reverses or stops mid-run consistently. Sometimes this is a limit switch or a bound-up door, and a tech should check both. But when the limits are set correctly and the door moves freely, a board that’s misreading the limits will shut the whole run down at the same spot every time.
- New remote or keypad won’t program. The programming routine lives on the logic board. If the opener runs fine but refuses to learn a new device, the receiver section of the board is the most common culprit.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Marietta, Genie logic board replacement runs $120 to $320 installed, and the spread comes down to a few things: whether your unit uses an older discontinued board that costs more to source, whether the opener needs a matching receiver or travel module at the same time, and how long the access takes on your particular opener mount. The price you get from us is written down before we turn a single screw – parts, labor, and the visit. No verbal estimates. And every logic board repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails within 365 days from the date of repair, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s written on your invoice too.
DIY or Call Us?
The logic board sits inside the opener housing and connects directly to line voltage. The opener must be unplugged, and ideally the breaker turned off, before the cover comes off. There are capacitors inside some Genie models that can hold a charge even after the unit is unplugged – enough to give you a serious jolt. If you’re comfortable with electrical components and you can positively identify the board, replacing it yourself is physically possible. Where most DIY jobs in Marietta go sideways is buying the wrong board sight unseen, then discovering the opener still won’t program because a companion module also failed. By the time that happens, you’ve bought the part and done the work twice. We stock common Genie boards and the companion modules, and we’ll match the part to your unit before you pay. Call (762) 209-3693 and tell us your model number – we’ll tell you what’s wrong, what it costs, and who’s coming to fix it before anyone shows up at your door.
FAQs
Almost never cost-effectively. The component-level failures on these boards – burned relays, cracked solder joints, fried receiver chips – typically cost more in bench time to repair than a new board, and a repaired board carries no meaningful lifespan warranty. Replacement is the fix that holds.
Most Genie logic board swaps take 30 to 60 minutes on-site, including removing the opener cover, confirming the board part number, installing the new board, reprogramming remotes and limits, and running a full open-close test. Call (762) 209-3693 and we can usually get to your Marietta home the same day.
We carry the most common Genie replacement boards on our service vans, and when we don’t have a specific older board, we source it same-week and schedule the install once it’s in hand. The price is always confirmed before we order a part, never after it arrives.
In Marietta’s climate, a Genie logic board typically lasts 8 to 15 years. The heat and humidity of a Georgia summer stress the board’s solder connections over time, and power surges during our thunderstorm season shorten the lifespan – we see more board failures in July and August than the other ten months combined. If your opener is past the 12-year mark and the board is acting up, replacing the board usually buys you years before the motor itself needs attention.
